Ms. Szymaszek’s Classroom Investigations:
It's
too bright in here. I can't see the
stars!
September 17, 2012
Since the
first day of school, the children have shown an interest in the “twilight
turtle”—a stuffed animal turtle with a hard shell that projects constellations
on the ceiling when it’s dark. On
September 17th, the teachers pulled the room-darkening curtains
closed and one of the children discovered he could see the stars. “Look!
I can see the stars on the sand table.
And there’s the moon!” But when
he shined the light on the ceiling, he couldn’t see it. “It’s too bright in here. I can’t see the stars.” The children decided they needed a big box to
keep the room dark enough to see the stars.
