Fall is Here!
Greetings Families!
I hope this newsletter finds you happy and healthy. Fall has arrived! With the cold weather comes stuffy noses and lots of sneezing. Thank you for helping your child wash his/her hands at drop-off, and promoting good health habits. If your child is unable to come to school due to a cold or allergies, please call the front desk at 313-593-5424 to help us know who to expect each day. Also, thank you in advance for labeling any of you child’s jackets, hats, gloves, etc. Many of the children’s articles of clothing look similar, and labeling provides your child an opportunity to recognize their name, and helps the staff match the clothing to the proper owner. Thanks!
Starting next week, we will be handing out a parent/family questionnaire called the “Ages and Stages Questionnaire.” This is a developmental screening that helps us see the whole child—and begin to see what your child is capable of! The whole process should take around 30 minutes. When the questionnaire is completed, please return it to Ms. Amy or one of the staff. If you are curious about the projects the children are working on, I post project progress on the classroom blog regularly. I will also post newsletter content on the blog as well. Project Progress: Baking and Blasting Off
Ms. Ashley, Ms. Rosecrans, Ms. Davis and I have noticed the children’s interests starting to emerge in their play. Among the children’s current interests are: airplanes and rocket ships, baking, animals, building houses, family life, puzzles, and fitting things together. Keep checking the blog for updated progress on each project that is emerging. Brief descriptions of “small moments” that occur during the day are often posted on the board above the parent-sign in clipboard. The staff and I have been looking for small moments to capture and describe, and share them with you. Many of these moments are related to project work, though not always. Also check the board in the hallway to the right of the classroom door for a list of the children’s interests.
