Ms. Lauren’s Investigations:
When
I mix black and red it makes black and reddish!
January 22-25, 2013
During the
week of January 22nd, the children continued to explore shades and
tones using paint. The children mixed red, white, and/or black.
We needed to
problem solve how we would get enough paint onto our trays. “I need more paint.
It needs to like squirt out,” Seamus explained. As we looked at the materials
on the table carefully Seamus problem solved by saying, “I know, I can just
pour it!” Once the children began to mix the colors, Grace noticed a color
change. “When I mix red and white together it gets pink.” Lily also noticed the
color changed when she mixed the colors and said, “When I mixed the black and
then the red it makes black and reddish.”
