Ms. Szymaszek’s Investigations:
"We
can use these blocks and makes lots of tunnels. It made a bridge too!”
January 22-25, 2013
During the week
of January 22nd, the children were prompted to construct ramps using
wooden slats. The children asked if they could have white pipes instead because
the dark tunnel was scary.
Ms. Lauren asked the children to think of a way to
make a tunnel using the slats. Adam brought small blocks over and began to add
them across the slats. Unfortunately, the marble was too large to slide under.
The children solved the problem by adding more blocks, raising the tunnel.
“It’s working. Watch! It rolls all the way through. Let’s make more.” “Oh I
know. We can use these blocks to make lots of tunnels. It made a bridge too!”
“My ramp made a bridge too!”
