Ms. Szymaszek’s Investigations:
We
need to make the butter soft…maybe we should add hot water?
November 14, 2012
As the
children gained experience using a whisk, the teachers tried to plan for
recipes that required the use of the whisk.
On Monday, the children worked to whisk eggs to scramble for snack. For curriculum night, the children worked
together to create oatmeal raisin cookies.
The children used potato mashers to mash the butter, but found it was
not melting the way it needed to. “Maybe
we could add some hot water.” “Maybe if
I mash it harder it will work.”
Using
whisks, the children mixed the dry ingredients, added eggs, and added
sugar. The children also used measuring
cups and spoons to add all the additional ingredients.
Later, the children helped roll the dough
into cookies.
