I need to see the picture.  We need pictures to see the bones.

During the month of May, the children showed an interest in the human body.  They began to use outlines of bodies as a template for drawing bones, organs, and what they thought was underneath our skin. 

Using this template, children drew ribs, bones, and "a heart and a brain."  The children used photographs and a model skeleton as a reference point.  

 As the children continued to draw skeletons on paper, a trend emerged.  The children kept pointing to parts of their own body as a reference for their drawings.  To extend their drawings further and make connections to real life, the children were invited outside.  

 Using chalk on the sidewalk, Ms. Tanisha traced their bodies on the sidewalk.  Using printed pictures and a model skeleton as a reference, the children drew their ideas about their own skeletons on the sidewalk.  They added ribs, eyes, and bones inside their outlines.
