Oh No! What
would we do if we didn’t have a mouth?

During the week of March 15th, the children in the morning begin to investigate their facial features more in depth. This week we began looking at our mouths.
The children were able to
observe a variety of pictures of mouths as well as observe their own through a
mirror. While drawing their mouths, children were learning about the shape of
their mouth as well as the features within their mouths.
Dillon said, “If we didn’t have a mouth we
wouldn’t be able to talk.” Then Myrna added on and said, “Yea and we wouldn’t
be able to eat either because we need a mouth and teeth to eat.” As children drew
a variety of mouths, they began to compare their mouths with the picture on the
tables as Hassan said, “Everyone’s mouth is different.” Therefore, the children
were able to identify that everyone’s mouth contain lips, teeth, a tongue, and
that it helps us communicate with each other as well as eat. The only difference they noted is they might
have a different shape or color.
